General
Q: Version 7.08 is the version with the new tax tables?
A: Yes, v7.08 of Acclaim will include the 2026 tax tables.
Q: Are we going to receive a copy of the webinar ?
A: Yes, you will be receiving the recording of the webinar along with all year-end resources. If you don't receive this, please reach out to our support team directly.
Q: Do you have detailed checklist for year end?
A: Click here for the Acclaim Year-End Checklist (2025-2026) and here for the Hosted version. We'll also be emailing all resources to our customers for the year-end.
Q: Please see if I understood correctly:
1. Finish/Process Dec. 2024 payroll
2. Download Version 7.00/Acclaim
3. Under Year 2024, Close The Year
Thank you.
A: That is correct, but there is an additional fourth step: Update the tax tables under 2026! :)
Q: What if the pay covers December and January?
A: As long as the pay date falls in 2026, it should take the 2026 tax tables, even if the pay period is in December or covers both December and January. If you pay it in December, it should take the 2025 tax tables.
Installation
Q: In the past, we uninstalled Paymate on the PC, then reinstalled Paymate. Is this necessary?
A: It is not absolutely necessary although our formal documentation indicates this. You can install the new version over the old one, but please ensure that no one else is connected to the program or has it open at the time of installation.
Q: Do I need to update to the latest version before closing the year?
A: Please ensure that you complete all 2025 payrolls and CLOSE the 2025 year before upgrading to the new version as you are not able to downgrade afterwards.
Q: Do you think you can show us the "Uninstall" and "Reinstalling" of Paymate procedure. Honestly, this is always confusing for me to do every year.
A: You can go to 'Add or Remove Programs' in your computer to uninstall Paymate Acclaim. Then you can download and use the new .exe file from our customer portal to install the new version.
Q: If we are running Paymate on multiple computers do they all need to be upgraded at the same time?
A: Yes, they will need to be installed on the new version. If you install the new version on just one computer, the others will not be able to access the database in Acclaim as their software version is not updated to be compatible with the new database version. Please ensure that you upgrade all computers before accessing Acclaim.
Q: I have two companies on Paymate. Do i need to update both?
A: If you have Acclaim on just one computer, then you only have to install the latest version once.
NOTE: You will have to close the year for both companies separately.
Carry Over Terminated Employees
Q: Can you choose to carry over some and not all employees who have been terminated
A: Unfortunately you cannot pick and choose which of your terminated employees to carry over or not. You must carry over all, or none.
Q: Would you recommend to carry over terminated employees information to the new year?
A: It's a personal preference. If you don't have a huge list of employees or if you don't mind manually entering information again if an employee comes back, you don't have to carry it over.
Vacation
Q: Should vacation be paid out for year end, or will it carry forward into the next year?
A: This is based on your company policy. If you prefer to pay it out, please pay it out before closing the year so it will be in 2024. If you prefer to carry it over, ensure that the payroll category is setup to carry it over and during the year-end process, it will ask you.
T4s
Q: We can print the T4s anytime after we Close The Year (2025), correct? Thanks.
A: Yes, after you close the year, from the “Setup”, select “Company” window, you can select the year “2025” to return to that year to create your T4s.
