Checklist of things to verify in the new year after the year closing

When you close the year, you will be presented with a series of dialogs telling you exactly what to do, and informing you of any exceptional circumstances.   You can cancel closing the year at any time.

Closing the year will not change any data, with the exception of marking the year as having been closed. If you need to go back and make changes to the payroll information later, run reports, or do anything else you will still be able to do so.

In most cases the only decisions you will have to make is whether to backup the data or whether you want terminated employees brought forward. This is a decision you will want to make since by default Paymate will not carry terminated employees forward. So if you are planning on hiring them in the New Year or you want keep their Information handy you will want to make sure this is set up.

  1. Employee setup Information. Terminated employees will not be carried over unless you set them up to be carried over.

  2.  Accruals that have been set up such at Vacation Pay and sick pay owing.

  3.  Benefits or Deductions categories that are flagged as being carried forward.

  4.  Payroll Calendar for each of the Payroll Groups.

  5.  WCB Rates and Pension Information set under Company Edit Screens.

To install on a network

Paymate will run under networks as a single user program. To run properly, Paymate Acclaim should be installed on the local hard drive of the workstation first then the data can be placed on the fileserver which might lead to slowdown in the performance. What you can do is create a backup from with the Paymate Acclaim and put it the server. For further information, please refer to the online “Help” and “Support Guide”.

Class not registered

Problem:

When printing pay stubs (for example), an error message is displayed, stating Class not registered. During the installation of the program, one of the required system files was not registered properly, and must be registered manually.

Solution:

Please copy the attached file in your C:\PaymateW directory, and complete the following steps in order to register the XceedZip.dll

  1. Close Paymate

  2. From Windows, Click Start and then Run

  3. Once the RUN window opens type in the following phrase regsvr32 C:\PaymateW\XceedZip.DLL

In the above command, it is assumed that Paymate is installed in the C:\Paymatew folder on the C drive. If Paymate is installed in a different folder or drive please enter the full path of where you have installed the Paymate program (rather than the one above).
