Problem:

User gets the following error when running Acclaim:

Error 5185: Local server connections are restricted in this environment 

Solution:

  1. Locate ads.ini file, this is typically located in the c:\Paymatew\ folder. Right click and open with a text editor (notepad).

  2. Ensure Acclaim is closed.

  3. Add the following lines to the end of the file:
    [SETTINGS]
    MTIER_LOCAL_CONNECTIONS=1

  4. Save the file.
